Other than audacity which is clumsy and extremely time consuming, is there any other way to convert ogg files to mp3?

Download this . Unzip it and place in:
User>Library>QuickTime (don't have the folder? Make one.)

This is an OGG QT plugin and will let QT and iTunes play OGG's. From iTunes, you can then select iTunes>Preferences>Importing>Import Using and then set up how you want your bit rate and such. Then select the file you want to convert and pull down Advanced>Convert to MP3.

How many players use OGG these days, I had noticed that iriver
can use OGG, Are there others?

It's an interesting format...Not sure if it will be as useful as MP3,
Are there any benefits of it over others?

Dave

There's some useful info on the OGG format here OGG FAQ More compression and better sound are definitely intersesting, plus it is free in every respect.

I'm giving Ogg a try, 'specially after reading thewitt's iTunes/QT plugin post. Thanks for this info
