I am looking to go wireless in my apartment and I need to know what kind of base station to use. I would love to get the Apple one but it is too damn expensive. My only other consideration is that I need it to have an out so I can hook up my xbox. Any suggestions for good units?

Just about any wireless router will do what you need. The router would need some (usually 4) LAN connections for your xbox. I have a micros**t G router that works great and was about $30 at futuresh**.

i use d-link.

seems to work ok for me, but i had a problem with people trying to steal my interweb.

no prob, just locked it on MAC filtering and WEP. stops hacks dead.

before, i had an SMC, and it futzed on me within a few months.

apparently linksys is decent too, but there's no apple support.

you can mix and match too. i've seen linksys adapters for game consoles here and there. use it with the router of your choice.
