Can anyone recommend a good high speed ISP that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Here are my requirements...

1) mobility... the ability to use the service anywhere in Canada
2) 2 or more e-mail addresses
3) unlimited access
4) maximum upload and download... minimum price

I don't send an awful lot of large files so point 4 is not a biggy, but it would be nice to download the latest OS update from Apple quickly.

Does a service like this even exist?

The ISP could be tied in with other services like cell phone, home phone or whatever. I'm thinking Sympatico, but does anyone have other recommendations?

What are you currently using, what have you tried, what would you recommend?

Any advice would be appreciated.

high speed usually means cable or DSL... it is not possible to use someone else's cable with your cable modem. Their cable company is the only provider that can send a data signal through the line. Sympatico DSL requires that their hardware remains in one place, I've tried using it away from the house and I could not get a connection.

I've heard of people getting internet on their laptops through their cellular phone, but I don't know how that works, or if it is high speed.

Sympatico will provide what you are looking for. They have dial access available is all provinces. Their hi-speed comes with up to five email addresses and 5Mb for a webpage, unlimited download and upload. The dialup part of it gives you 10 free hours a month, beyond that you will pay for the additional time. Suggest you check out their web site for full details.

No ....... I don't work for Bell.

I'm using Primus which is basically Sympatico resold with similar features. Last I checked the price difference was good. I've been satisfied with their service, don't tell them if you have a network. My feeling is that the service is better than others based on complaints I've heard. The difference is one time I was able to get unlimited dial-up when their hi-speed was down. Their service number usually says right away if there is a system wide failure so time is not wasted.
Their dial-up is limited but their website has most of the info you need.

Have had Sympatico for a couple of years. Not one hassle, and will provide what you need.
