I have just began doing some programming in Java on the Mac.

I've hit a wall where I cannot import a Scanner class, which I understand is part of Java's standard library of predifined code. My first question is, does Java on the Mac support the Scanner class? I have the latest version 1.4.2.

Are there any other differences between the code used with Java for the Mac and Java for PC's?

Also, can anyone recommend a Macintosh specific Java tutorial site or book so I can get past the initial learning curve with as few headaches as possible?

I've just started on Java as well.
I'm taking a continuing ed course.
The teacher reccommended the book Big Java and the shareware app called BlueJ ( as base tools.
