I had a beige G3 and in order to run OSX, I had to copy Jaguar to a partition less than 7 gig and I had everything else on the final 73 megs of my 80 gig western digital. Now when I upgraded to a B&W G3 and to Panther soon that 7 gig partition became a real pain and with the aid of my external box that will take any IDE device and allow me to attach it either a Firewire or USB port, I attempted to do a CCC to a newly purchased maxtor 80 gig with 1.5 gig partition for 9.2.2 stuff and the rest for panther. My goal was to later do a CCC back to my fast Western digital once the 1st CCC worked. I was of course using the Firewire port rather than USB 1.0 for obvious speed differences. I have tried 3 times to do a CCC onto a 76.5 gig partition from the less than 7 gig partition on the westerne digital.
On the final try, the preferces for the desktop were no longer there when I tried to boot from the Maxtor and I could only boot into Safe Boot. If I tried the normal way the bootup but the boot uprocess always freezes on the spinning "wheel??"
Whenever I have done CCC, I always choose the Make bootable option. I have recently done a disk repair and repairing priveleges before doing a CCC. I have even gone as far as following advice of this O'Reilly website

The only error that I always seem to receive is that 1 or 2 foreign language preference could not be copied. What am I supposed to do in addition? Am I supposed to choose SYNCHRONIZE? Am I suppose to choose advance settings and allow all files to be copied including the ones that that menu says will not be copied unless I chose to have them copied?
