Hi,
I am a student starting at Ryeson and they use a ResNet system that requires a wireless card 802.11 A,B or G.
I have a Beige G3 and a G3 B&W desktop both Os 9.2.2 .
Can anyone help me with the card selection if any out there???
Thanks in advance.

I use an Aria extreme PCI card in my B&W. Works great and uses the Airport software, so its plug and play. I got it at Northstar Computing wich is at Bay & Elm st. If you go ther ask them to discount it, they knocked about 20 dollars off the sticker price for me.

Andrew,
does the Sonnet card work with OS 9? Never tried it but their site is a little confusing. The list OS 10.2.6 as a requirement but
then lists 9500's etc as compatible computers.

I don't know about the sonnet card, as mine is made by Aria.

http://www.sonnettech.com/product/aria_pci.html

As this is an Airport extreme card, I assume that it's more the fact that OS9 was long dead before Extreme was born. So apple has not developed extreme software for OS9.

Mine workes without any configuring in 10.3. Just pluged it in and it worked like a regular airport card. One advantage is that you can attach an amplified antenna, like the one I got at futureshop for $39. It strongly outperformes my airport equiped sawtooth that sits right beside it.

So to confirm, you have the Sonnet Aria working in OS 9?

If so, I'd say that would be the best route to go.

I got a Belkin USB wireless adapter a while ago. There were drivers for OS9 and X on the Belkin web site, but there was no indication of Mac support on the box.

I know I tried it in OS9 and it worked fine. It's looks like a box the size of a deck of cards with an antenna and USB cable. I'm not at home now so I can't tell you the model name.

I tried it on a beige G3 and a PowerTower Pro. I think it cost around $50 from the Radio Shack Clearance store, but I haven't seen any lately.
