According to Software Update, I am due to update botht the 5/03/2004 release (4.2 meg) and the 5/24/2004 release (712 KB). Why is it the the small one is not available for download at the Apple Software Update site? I see the 5/03 one, but not the other. I suppose I could just let Software Update do its thing, but I always like to download and install them myself. While on the topic, does an OS update cover all previous Security Updates?

i don't know if this will help you, but i'll share my 2¢ anyway:

the best thing to do might just be to let Apple Software Update check for you. if you're missing any security updates, or other OS updates, it should find them for you. Also, there's nothing wrong with running it after it completes an update and reboots, as some updates may require "prerequisite" updates prior to installation.
