Target disk mode with B&W G3/300

I've done several searches about this option and can't seem to find consistent answers.

Is it possible to connect my B&W G3/300 to a Quicksilver G4/933 by firewire? (with the G3 as host and G4 as target)

Also, I have a revision 1 G3. How will I know if I have the reported firewire port problem? I've imported DV footage without a problem so far, so can I assume that any hard drive will also work via the firewire port?

Hello,

Try to boot your G3 with key T pushed.

If that works, you can connect to your Quicksilver.

If that doesn't work, following what you want to do is there another way to operate.

Yes, I have done it- I have a B&W here, as well as G4 tower, Pismo, iMac, etc. The Apple Doc is not necessarily "Gospel" but a valid reference...I thought it might carry a bit more weight than if I told you of my experience directly.

What conflicting reports have you read? Some B&W's have flakey FW ports, but host mode also works with PCI and PCMCIA cards. ;)
