I am about to attempt to place a wireless router in my home computer system to allow me to add other macs or pc type computers in the future...and I NEED HELP.
At present I have an IMac 600 SE running OS 9.2.2 and I have Sasktel's High Speed internet. I have purchased (thanks to folks on this site) a Microsoft MN-500 wireless router. The instructions for the router tell me to go to chapter 3 "custom setup", and further instructs me to install the base station and start up Internet Explorer and enter address
http://192.168.2.1. After establishing a password, I am to then establish Internet settings, and depending on type of internet connection I may have to provide host name, subnet mask, or domain name server address. I have nothing from Sasktel with this info except that my I.P. addresss is DHCP marked on their modem.
Can I not go to TCP/IP and get all the necessary info before I hook up the router or is this the wrong info? Or should I give Sasktel's help desk a call and let them help me through this step by step? Perhaps someone here has been there and done that before and can give me a few pointers or advice to help out. Shucks I will even take step by step dummy type instructions if that will make this a pain free operation. Thanks.
