I signed up for the 60 day trial for .mac and everything seems to work except the mail portion.

I have been able to receive mail from my .mac address but when I try to send from Mail I get a message that "the connection to smtp.mac.com timed out"

Can't seem to figure out why. The setup for a .mac account in Mail is pretty cut and dry. Is it possible that sympatico is doing something to prevent me from sending mail from another SMTP server?? any other thoughts?

Thanks for the help all

Except that will not allow me to send mail using the .mac address will it?

My sympatico email account works perfectly. I want to send mail using the .mac address though.

Sympatico and many other ISP's will not allow you to send email except through thier own server. This is to prevent spam. And that's a good thing.
