Epson Scanner Problems

I have an Epson 1240 Perfection Scanner hooked up to my Beige G3 and the software that drives the scanner is the Epson Smart Panel (Twain 5). This software is virtually useless. When you use Scan to Application it doesn't recognize Photoshop. If I use Scan For Creativity, I wind up having to use Photodeluxe which is very limited.

Can I use an alternate piece of software for this scanner or am I stuck?

Any guidance would be most appreciated

I have the 1250, which I had to junk because the lamp only likes it when it is really warm. I traded up to a HP 4670.
But, the Epson does have OS9 drivers and a plugin for PS. You need to put the plugin in the import/export folder of Photoshop. Then when you launch PS, you simply acquire it through the file menu. I wouldn't bother with "scan to application". PS 7 will use the 1240 thorugh the TWAIN driver easily. Put an alias in other TWAIN compliant apps like Acrobat to make PDF's on the fly.

I have a 1260 and run OS X.3.2.
In order to scan I use the import command in photoshop. Works OK.
However, I would not buy another Epson scanner for the ****ty Mac drivers and support.

I have an Epson 1650 Perfection and I have absoluetly NO problems with it on Jaguar with my G4 400 AGP.

It works great! I love it!

BTW...jsimard....

At this forum we generally temper our four letter words by adding asterisks or something. If you are going to say something like "sh*tty" then do it with a touch of class, por favor.

The Mayor made this rule a long time ago. We all follow it and we all like it. It makes us a bit different from the run of the mill forums out there.

Any questions on this, then feel free to PM me and I'll explain it it more detail.

By all means, feel free to speak up here! But conduct your posts in a civil manner. We will all respect you for this.

Fair enough?

Same here. I have an Epson 1660 Photo and the TWAIN driver works correctly with Image Capture (I don't use Photoshop).
