One more time: can't connect iChat AV

This software is making me age rapidly...

Sometimes I can connect the video, sometimes I can't
Same thing for the audio
I would say hit rate is 1/5 for video and 1/10 for audio

Both of us are using iSight and Panther 10.3.2 under Wifi with everything open (OSX firewalls off, default NAT security on but everything else off)

The chat threads on the Apple site are full of people with similar problems, but no solutions

Any ideas?

Has iChat 2.1 Public Beta improved anything?

I haven;t done video iCVhat since jaguar, and the first time since it was last night on Panther and the iChat beta. Got the message the both myself and the other guy "refused the connection". then, I reverted back to the previous iChat version. Still no go.

I'm on a wireless network. My OS X firewall is of course off. Here are some threads on it at the Apple tech forums:

1) Apple's legendary ease of use? iChat should look for the ports and report if it needs opening them

2) My Belkin router config is quite different from that in the KB page, so I have given up trying to set

3) Why (oh why) sometimes yes/sometimes no???
