Hey everyone, I'm logged in from my PC because my iBook won't work on my network anymore.
I used to have a Linksys router with two SMC wireless access points. Everything worked fine for all of my wired and wireless access.
I recently recieved a Linksys wireless router from Sympatico and put it in place of the wired router (hoping to boost wireless in some low areas).
The SMC wireless access points are set to allow me to wander in and out of each zone seemlessly and this works fine.
I can't seem to set the Linksys to the same channels and SSID as the access points though (the attempt seems to fail every time).
Since I have to choose either the wireless from the access points or the Linksys router, I have been forced to use the router as it blocks out the access points unless there is no signal strength on it at all. I can connect to the points but get no internet access over them. The router also happens to have poor signal strength compared to the SMC points (even with its' two antenna).
I have now shut off the wireless on the router opting to use the SMC points. No go. I can no longer connect to the Sympatico mail server (can't connect on port 110 I think) or browse web pages.
Unplugged one of the SMC points and ran ethernet straight into the iBook. No go, same problems.
Weird though that through all of this my PC wired to the router still works just fine.
I'm going to keep plugging away, trying different things but any suggestions would help.
Thanks...
