Question

Hey all! I was just wondering if the eMacs required that same adapter that the iMacs require, to use an airport card. Specifically an eMac 700MHz with an airport 802.11b card. I'm wondering if I can move my airport from my iBook into somebody's eMac without buying any new equipment. Thanks!

Depends...the older model eMacs used the old wireless B standard. If that applies to you, then I believe that you'll need the adapter, as is the case with the iMacG3 predecessors.

If yours uses Airport Extreme (wireless G standard), then I don't think those cards even have an adapter.

the only mention of the adapter I can find on Apple's website is that its required for "G3-based, AirPort ready iMac" as stated at the Apple's adapter webpage, But it never mentions whether eMacs need it or not...

802.11b-based AirPort eMacs do not require an adaptor. All you need is the card itself and you're good to go. The adaptor requirement applies to G3-based slot-loading iMacs only.
