I recently downloaded and installed Epsons updated driver for my Perfection 610. I've been having to use it is OS9 / Classic only. After installing the driver, etc., I turned on the scanner and used the Epson app to run a scan. I heard the scanner churn away for a second or so and then was told that the scanner is not responding and to check that it is connected and to try again. I know the cable is good and that it is plugged in. Why can't I complete a scan? Is it the fault of the driver? Does anyhone else have an Epson scanner and tried out the newly released Perfection drivers?
I have a Perfection 1250, and both the Epson Scan to File & Epson Twain 5 work fine in Panther (Epson says they're for OSX 10.2~10.2.8).
Did you install the Twain driver? If you have it installed try launching Image Capture (OSX/Applications/Utilities) and scanning from there.
If that works you know it's not a hardware issue. In general, using TWAIN from inside another application (Apple Image Capture; PhotoShop; Graphic Converter, etc) works best with Epson scanners and OSX.
