I've been hoping to be able to print over WiFi. Yesterday suddenly I can now browse our Windows 98 machine at home over WiFi+ethernet. I can also see the Windows machine's shared Canon i550 printer in the Add Printer process. However, in the pick list for Model Name which appears after I choose CANON in the Printer Model drop down list, I only see the following:
CANON BJC 30, CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.5
... the list continues with more BJC models and some S models like S400.
No i550.
The driver from the Canon site seems to be USB-only.
In the Printer Model drop-down list you can pick "Other..." instead of CANON, and this allows you to browse to something, I'm not sure what.
Is there a way to get and install a driver for the i550 that works for Windows Printing? Maybe another Gimp driver?
