I wasted an hour last night trying to get my own avatar into place on ehMac. I failed. Would some kind person post explicit instructions re: how to accomplish this? Please?

I have a couple of options - my ISP webspace or my .mac account. Will either of these work?

Thanking you in advance.

Yup, just upload to your webspace provided by your ISP and then llink to it in the avatar form from My Profile..

Pretty much the same as inserting an image into this reply...

I use my .Mac account. Put it in the sites folder of your iDisk.

Verify that you can access the image via a browser by typing in it's address, which would look like this :

http://homepage.mac.com/yourusername/avatarimage.jpg

(keep in mind that your iDisk is case sensitive, so be sure to type in the name of the image -exactly-)

One you can see it in a browser, just copy and paste that into the appropriate box in your profile.

If you want to know how to post a link to an icon.

Go to the page with the "Individual" icon that you want,
The address field in your browser of the page of the icon is
the link to the icon, Highlight and copy this address to the
link to icon in your ehMac profile, Click update and then
you are done.

The update isn't instantanous, You'll need to wait a bit for
the ehMac site to update your changes.

Hope this helps.

A comprehensive guide to updating/linking your avatar!

1) Log in to ehMac.

2) Get the URL of your avatar. (So where it is hosted on the web). It is best to copy the link and then you can paste it in. Or just write it down.

3) Click on the My Profile Link at the top of any page on ehMac.

4) Click View/Update Profile

5) Scroll down to where it says "Avatar Image:"

6) Press "Select a different Avatar Image"

7) In the new window that has popped up, either select one of the packgaed avatars or go to "Use Custom URL" at the bottom of that window.

8) Click on the avatar you want if choosing a packaged one. If you are wanting a custom one, paste the URL (address) of the custom avatar. Eg. http://www.yoursite.com/avatar.jpg

8b) If selected custom URL, Press the Set URL button.

9) Press Select this Avatar.

10) Press Update your profile when the window closes.

If you miss one of the buttons, it won't work. So be sure that you set the URL, and select the avatar and update your profile.

Chealion, once again you have proved why you were awarded the Golden Doxie. Very clear directions that even I could follow.
