trying to print a 25 page Quark document on my G4 400Mhz workstation running OS9.2.2. printing to a Canon Splash Imagerunner and each time I print the document, an “Unknown Error” is returned back from the Desktop Print Monitor. My Quark document is designed in QuarkXPress 5.0 and has multiple graphics and fonts.
Please let me know what is the problem and how to solve it!! Thanks,

First thing is to narrow the field.... Open a new Quark document. Blank, no text, no graphics... Print with Crops & Reg marks on and reduce to fit paper...If the error occurs, it is your system or the printer. Check yer Chooser and connections...
If it prints fine, then the problems is in the docuement...
Are other documents printing... Luckily, quark only craps out for 3 majoer reasons..
It is actually pretty simple... Quark files, when they corrupt, are usually fatally flawed. Usually you can't even save the file... You can try copy pasting the page elements to a new QX Document... that might work, but I would make sure it is not the fonts or images first...
Open the 25 page file and go under Picture usage... turn off all images so they will not print... If the file prints, either 1 or more images has a bad preview, or clipping path or some type of postscript error...
If the file does not print here... it is probably a font problem... Do a save as so you are working on a copy...
Use the font usage window to turn all fonts to Helvetica or some other font You KNOW WORKS... If the file prints now, you can use process of elimination to find the offending font...
If you can narrow the problem to file, fonts or Photos...
You are half way there...
If it is an imported image causing the problem, it could be an illustrator image, Adobe's forums are full of problems with Illy 10... Photos can have bad clipping paths, or jpeg encoding or Jpeg previews..
Let us know if any of this helps...

Try printing 1 page at a time until you get to the page that is causing th e problem. When you find it, open each of the graphics and do a "Save As". re-import and try again.
