iBook os?

Hey everyone. I just wanted to ask around and see what people think. Now that I am going to be getting my iBook 700 soon, what OS do people recommend I put on it? I know there have been a lot of problems with 10.2.8 on portables... so should I stick to 10.2.6? Also, when Panther comes out in a few days... should I go to Panther? Will it run any slower and will I experience any problems? From experience, on my last two OldWorld G3 Powerbooks, I stuck to classic OSs 8.6 and 9.2 because I saw that it wasn't to comfortable with Jaguar....

10.2.8 runs perfectly on my ibook 800, none of the problems since the re-released patch.

I would just wait for 10.3 so you don't have to buy two OSes and also becaues of the speed boost to G3s that's been mentioned.

neema, wait for panther. ive heard from a few ibook people that panther really improves the G3.

Panther all the way - it is just plain fabulous - this from someone who would not go to X for a variety of reasons mainly speed. Panther fulfills the promise Jag just hinted at.
Sit at 10.2.6 and snag Panterh immediately

hey Neema, I have installed OSX and all the updates including OSX 10.2.8 on the ibook 700 and no problems at all...I have had 10.2.8 running on a ibook 800, flatpanel imac 800, and a dual G4...no problems...But YES I WANT PANTHER! I heard many good reports too! thanks Mark

Look fwd to panther as well. But Jag seems to run nicely on my Pismo. But I will say that perf might be a touch more of concern esp when RAM is going to be limited (640 Max). Could I go back to 9.2.2?? Not sure... I did like OE though.
