Question

I'm looking to see if anyone else has had this same problem. My clamshell ibook keyboard has decided to quit working...sort of. Occasionally the r,t,4,f,v and b keys don't respond. At the same time, the caps lock key won't light up either. I've gone to the apple site and tried restarting with base extensions, starting from the system cd, throwing out preferences and tried checking that the keyboard's ribbon cable is properly seated. It sounds to me like a hardware problem, but I want to be sure before buying a new keyboard. And if I do need a new keyboard, where do I find one without being hammered on the price?...thanks in advance.

USb keyboard would work also.. try eBay or other venues to find a good second hand one.. if you want to get one from Apple.. they are pretty pricey..

Cheers,

Kinda takes the "portable" idea out of having a laptop...

That's what I was going to say. Buying an external USB keyboard is pointless.

Thankfully, a new keyboard for that iBook is probably cheap. Just take it to a Apple Tech and ask how much they charge for replacing it.
