Question Evom

Okay, so what is this?

It IS in the iTunes Movie Folder. Makes no sense. Evom does dump it there. Some silly glitch?

Never heard of Evom, but try converting it with Handbrake for Apple instead. It works seamlessly with iTunes and it's free:

HandBrake

Wha? Never? I was told about Evom here!
But I'll try Handbrake. I have it, just haven't used it.

Just used Handbrake. Converts it (quickly) to an mp4. Won't dump into iTunes. Seamless? How so? Confused.

I use Evom all the time, partially because the conversions are done very quickly and partially because Handbrake no longer supports conversion to .avi

As far as the problem is concerned - doesn't one select the target folder where one wants the video saved?

One does, yes. And one did. And one STILL gets the silly message.
Actually, I'm getting really tired of the HOURS it takes for one video to convert on Evom. Really. Like nine hours to convert a 'Damages' episode. Seriously. Maybe my MBook's pooched. I don't have thousands of things running, either. Damn it.

I use IVI to do this. All I do is drag the video and drop it onto IVI, it gets the artwork, it finds out the correct tags, converts it and moves it into iTunes into the appropriate category (Movies or TV episode etc.) and I can view it on my Apple TV - seamless.

Plus, it takes around an hour to convert a full HD movie.

Cheers

Woa. 'tilt'. Thanks, big time. Took the plunge, bought it. Evom was STILL rendering 'The Newsroom' about 9 hours later, THEN cancelled on me overnight. Plopped it into iVI this morning, done in 47 minutes! A 'Damages' episode in 33 minutes! Wow. AND, right into iTunes. Haven't tried to watch on ATV2; I'll do that tonight.
Thinking of all the frustrations I've experienced for MONTHS. Duh. Not so much anymore, it appears.
I owe you, sir.

iVI is a new application for me.

I just decided to try it.

Did a conversion of a one-hour (with ads) TV episode, that took a bit over an hour with Evom and 45 minutes with iVI.
So iVI is faster but I couldn't find the converted iVI file on my Mac.
I had changed the destination to a folder where I place all my video conversions since I don't use iTunes, I also had iTunes deselected but iVI seems to want to place the converted file into iTunes regardless because when the conversion was complete, the license window for iTunes popped up...where I declined.
So now I have no clue where that converted file is or if it just gets deleted.
Tried a search but all that comes up is the original file and the converted file using Evom.

One thing I can't figure out with iVI - how does one select the target video container?
I want to convert some video files to .avi, others to mp4 and still others to .wmv, can't find an option to select that.

I'm trying thew conversion with iVI again to see what the final quality is like compared to Evom.BTW /M, I usually convert from whatever to .avi on a two year old Mac Mini and no conversion took anywhere near several hours, there is something else going on in your case.

And when I do conversions, I use the Mac for other things at the same time, like typing this reply or searching the web or doing emails.

You're welcome MG.

KRS, under Preferences in IVI you should be able to set the destination location for the converted files. Just make sure that you select the location for Home Movies, Movies, TV Shows and for Default.

Also, Under "General", make sure iTunes Support is unchecked.

BTW, I don't think there is an option to set the format of the converted file (avi or mp4 or wmv). For that you can use MacX Video Converter Pro.

Cheers
