Unable to quit Safari

When I have Safari open and I go to quit the Quit function in Safari is a very lighter shade of gray,so I am unable to quit.
Any suggestions?

First thing I would do is restart the computer and see if it cures the issue.

Or just force quit Safari. Isolated issue. If it repeats, then restart...but that won't fix a Safari-specific issue.

Which method worked??

Usually the suggested force quit method is all that's normally required.

It's a new Safari feature designed to make it the most popular Internet browser.

Sounds more like one of Lion's new features, can't find the ones you want and can't get rid of the ones you don't want.

I just recently got this problem too,
I think I triggered it when I got impatient when a url wouldn't load and then I hit another one,
That seemed to cause Safari to go into a "I don't want to quit now mode"
Force quitting solved the problem though.
