2007 MBP operating very slow and VERY hot
Hello all. Over the past year, my MBP has been operating more and more slowly...
Yesterday, it took a little over 3 minutes to start up. There is delay from when I click on anything using my track pad to when the operation is started. Another example, I am currently decoding a video using handbrake. 1.32 GB file used to take maybe 2 hours to encode now is showing 10 hours until complete.
Also, over the last month the MBP has been overheating. Im talking too hot to touch... I used to have my MBP closed all the time and hooked up to an external monitor. I could run handbrake non-stop for 72 hours straight and not see an issue with performance or heat. Now, it will overheat while backing up using time machine and multiple times a day. I had to unplug the external monitor and leave the MBP open whenever I use it. So far, it hasn't overheated in this setup.
Here are the specs of the MBP:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2

Any help would be appreciated!!! Thank you very much.
