Apple - iPhone - Rate Plans for iPhone
I really hope something similar is offered up here, and at a similar price point.

Not much chance that we'll see a similar price point, since Rogers doesn't have unlimited wireless data at any price (soft caps apply).
Still, the U.S. plans will be the comparison when the iPhone gets released here, and since Canadians already balk at most high data costs, it will be interesting to see what Rogers comes up with. |

I pay $5 for a non business 10MB a month which I find is reasonable but down there the plan is a $39.95/mo 450/5000 min plan + $20 unlimted data and 200 text messages :O I think Rogers is getting a two tiered system going in, I pay $5 for 10mb, those with Blackberries or MyMail push mail requirements would pay $40 or so for that same 10mb. I think that's the trend with most wireless companies, two tiered data prices. The bulk of us don't need push mail. Now just hoping that perhaps one day $5/mo would pay for 100mb of data.. haha.. dreaming away...
I think I came to the conclusion that US customers pay MORE for basic rates, there are no cheap $20 plans down there. But those who use their cell phones a lot for voice and data benefit the most because their bills are not that much higher than those who just use their phones for the occasional call and text message. The cell phone companies down there see profit regardless of whether their is a low or high amount of usage. Here, it's like the people who use their phones a lot subsidize those who don't. I think we need to go more into the American system, higher basic rates but packed with a lot of features and minutes and bandwidth.

OK, bothers and sisters, as of 2 minutes ago I was talking to Rogers and was told that the iPhone will be available in "early July" - that is a direct quote from the business support section. The plans will be a phone plus data deal but will not look like the AT&T plans.
EDIT: I am going to copy this to a new thread so we can co-ordinate info on the Canadian situation, because what AT&T does doesn't mean a fat rat's fart here in Canada. Last edited by rgray; Jun 27th, 2007 at 01:26 PM. |

Take that with a truckload of salt. Nothing has been announced and some guy in the business support section may just be blowing smoke.

How do think the iPhone plans will compare to the current ones on offer from Rogers? The U.S. plans help as comparators. |
