Being this close to the release of the iPad 2.0 (2 days) I think it is almost impossible to know if the price is appropriate or not. If it weren't for the impending release I would have said seems fair... it's almost a 20% saving vs. a new one.
people are selling the 16gb 3g for $400 on kijiji and craigslist if you look around. 64gig 3g for like 550 to 600
I would be interested to know if the final sale prices are ever anything like the asking price.
You can buy second-hand Apple gadgets at a reduced price but with full warranty from Apple, from the Refurbished part of the Apple Canada store. So without a warranty on a second hand item, I would not pay more than 50% of the new price for a second hand one. That's under $ 350 for the 16gb 3g, under $ 440 for the 64 g 3g. And once a newer model is out, I'd expect a big discount for the obsolete model.

Neither really (but my comment wasn't directed to you)... If you can get$600 for your iPad all the more power to you... I wouldn't pay that price, but if you have found someone who will and you are both happy that is all that matters.

I think 50% is an unrealistic depreciation in just 1 year. I think 20-30% is more realistic. Even with the iPad 2.0 coming out in one day there is nothing "obsolete" about the first gen iPad.. It sill blows the competition out of the water.
