Read Only Folders
I have a portable harddrive to store all my pictures on. I collected files from other people's computers and such and now I am using the harddrive on my mac. However, I can't move stuff around on it because it says that it's read only. I checked out what the help thing said, but I got stuck when it said there should be a lock icon below the Sharing and Permissions thing. Mine doesn't have one. What do i do?

When you do a Get Info (command-i) on a file or folder you should see a window like this:
Screen shot 2010-02-12 at 7.13.03 AM.png When the little arrowhead thingy next to "Sharing".. is pointing down you should see the lock. Under "Privelege" each line is a menu: Screen shot 2010-02-12 at 7.24.49 AM.png that you can change when unlocked. You will need an admin password.

Yep. Little lock icon isn't there. It just says "you can only read."
