Went to another District Police office, and got the same message. They just don't have the resources to do anything. So I guess that is the end of the line from my end...

What a lie. You're being scammed, the police should know what to do and do it. That's what they're there for, not to sit there and eat doughnuts all day.

I'd bet that if a police officer got scammed, they would do everything they can to find out who it is.

If I received that answer, I would find out where the funding for the police budget comes from.
Our police force is the OPP funded by the City of Quinte West - ie my tax dollars.
I'd be after the mayor and town council if I got a brush off like that from the police. Especially where this person has scammed numerous people we know of and the scam is still ongoing and will be for ever until this person gets caught.

I actually submitted the information to that site. It was my first step. I got an automated response saying that they couldn't do much, and to contact my local police dept. At least the info is now in their database.

I buy stuff on kijiji sometimes but i always buy it from local people, do every transaction face to face, i never want to send money to any one is out of town. It's safe that way. And be careful when you are trying to sell something on kijiji or craiglist, there are so many scams on there, they will try to send you messages to ask you if you accept cheques, or money order, then ask you to ship your stuff. Those scamers are very easy to be recognized cause they always ask some questions such as "is your item still available?" most common word they used is "item".

I am selling a macboko pro (2009 model) in kijiji.. and basically am showing receipt with drivers license, and I bought it using a debit card..etc I think that's as legit as I can get it, but what should I make the buyer do? cash, certified cheques or PAYPAL. Should I do the transaction near a bank...i just want to make sure everything is okay..

When i was selling my macbook on kijiji in the peterborough area, i was also contacted twice regarding to purchase my macbook. They asked if i would ship it out of the country if they paid for shipping. I figured sure, why not. Although when we finally arranged the paypal email the paypal email was fake, and my paypal account did not notify me of the payment coming through. When i noticed several grammar and spelling errors it made me know it was not paypal. So i did not click the link, i just check the paypal first.

So i replied to the guy that he would either have to come pick it up and pay cash, or deal is off. He replied with several bull **** comments, and I just told him i forwarded his fraud to the RCMP. *which i did*

well you get the gist of it, but none the less, paypal fraud email has been reported, and i have forwarded it to the fraud contact at the rcmp. WIll anything get done? Likely not. But atleast I was not a victim.

You should do it. Offer a computer for sale on kijiji. Offer it more expensive than what its worth. Say willing to ship to locations, just to grab his attention. And then we should catch this mofo
