Share this Forum Bar (Facebook, Twitter and Google+)
Hi ehMacians. Had a neat opportunity to have a direct meeting with representatives from Google and had a 15 minute one-on-one session about ehMac.ca, and optimizing it for traffic and search engines etc...
Out of the meeting, we are implementing just a couple of tweaks here and there. The most visible will be the new "Share this forum" bar above threads and posts. The bar is just a few pixels high, and has 3 methods of sharing a good forum or thread outside of the site to FaceBook, Twitter or Google+.
At this point, anyone can copy the URL address of a thread or page, and share it on social media, which thankfully and gratefully, some people do. This just makes it a lot easier and sort of solicits people to share more.
Doing so greatly helps out with the popularity of ehMac and is VERY appreciated.
So if you see a great thread, please kindly take a moment to share the thread on Facebook and/or Twitter and/or Google+. (Especially Google+)
The other tweaks made are more behind the scenes tweaks and note visibly noticeable.

Would it be possible in user preferences to either suppress that bar or move it to the bottom below the content?
When visiting eMac.ca on a smaller display, I'm finding there's so much going on in the header area that the actual content is almost all pushed down below the fold. Even on my 21.5" iMac, the 'header' stuff actually takes up roughly half of the display (about 540 pixels to the top of the first post.)
That, and being one of those folks who do not use the 'social media' stuff, just makes it purely wasted space for me. (
Or alternatively, perhaps the dead whitespace in between all the various header bars could be reduced or eliminated. Eg. rather than 16 pixels of dead whitespace, a single pixel thick red line? Or more subtle, a single pixel thick dark grey line?
Obviously this is just one persons opinion, but the first time I saw that 'sharing' bar I spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out how to make it go away, before I realized it wasn't a control-panel setting that I'd accidentally turned on.
