Got to love today's threat of poor weather in Ontario:
"...Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms to redevelop over the areas today. The main threats are torrential downpours, hail up to toonie size and intense lightning. This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall..Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins..."
Toonie-size.
A friend of mine used to compose these updates for the Weather Channel several years ago and I looked forward to the often overly dramatic postings.
Still, that is big hail. The biggest hail I ever experienced was in Calgary one August when it came down in pea-sized chunks.

When it does hail here, usually on hot summer days, the hail is marble sized or smaller, but I have seen it golf ball sized many times. There is almost always one such big hail storm in the west per year with millions in damages to house roofs and to vehicles parked outside.

Toonie sized would be interesting, as a toonie is flat and hail is generally round-ish

Are you referencing the Weather Channel specifically or does this apply to the Canadian, Weather Network channel, as well?
