Does this vacation site guarantee make sense to anyone?

I am looking to book a trip for the March break and have been visiting some sites to compare prices and options. I was at the iTravel2000 site and came across this message while it did its search.

Quote:
itravel2000 will match or beat any published
price on identical pre-packaged vacations!

If we cannot match or beat the price, you will receive
the identical pre-packaged vacation for free!

Some restrictions apply.
That part in bold confused me. If you can't beat it why would you give it to me for free? Isn't that false advertising.

It isn't false advertising. They will beat it by $1 before giving it away for free, so their promise is valid.

The key word, of course, is 'identical'.

Sure. The promise is valid, but meaningless to the consumer.

Yeah, they're never identical, are they.

That reminds me of the coupons for specific types or sizes of a product. The store never has that specific type or size.

Some stores (the big volume ones) will have the manufacturer produce otherwise identical products , but with a unique model identifier for just that store/chain. So it is never exactly the same as a competitor.

I guess and true, but they will never give it away for free so seems false to me.

They will give it away free if they fail to keep the other promise. They're keeping themselves honest... so to speak.
