Anyone hear own a 3D TV? Thoughts?

Do any ehMacians actually own a 3D TV?

Seems to me the "3D Charge" is not really taking off. My only experience is viewing at big box stores with the demo glasses, and I'm not interested in the least.

Wondering if anyone hear owns a set and what there thoughts are on it after owning for a bit.

ya I have one, got it on boxing day with a BR player and an extra pair of glasses.

The reason that I bought this TV was not for the 3D but rather it was the highest spec'd TV that you could buy at the time and it was the perfect physical size to fit into my TV stand.

So I have now had this TV for some time and I have to say that this thing continues to blow my mind, every time I drop in a Blueray or watch HDTV it is crazy how sharp this thing is!

Now it did come with a 3D movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and then I bought Tron3D as well but other then that I have not bought any other 3D movies, and I must say that the main reason for this is not that the 3D does not work well as to be honest it works very well, but the real issue for me is the glasses, I am married with two kids and the TV only came with 2 glasses (and they are very large and don't fit my 5 year old very well at all) and additional glasses are about $100 each (and yes they do make kid sizes, and they even come in PINK, yes I have two girls).

Anyway to sum up all that I have said here....

If you want a great TV buy a 3D TV if you want a 3D TV wait till the ones with out glasses start to hit the main stream (I saw them at CES in Jan the quality is not there yet but you know that will change soon).

I don't own one, but have had the opportunity to try quite a few out. The battery-powered glasses are a huge turn-off (both in price and reliance on batteries). The shutter effect with some HDTVs just doesn't work as well as the cinema. Some of the newer polarized-separation TVs look better, but need improvement. I don't get fatigued when I watch 3D projection at the theatre, but watching a feature-length movie on a 3DTV can be tiring on the eyes.

The slow adoption of 3DTV is partially due to the fact that HDTV is finally catching on, the high cost (just getting extra glasses is prohibitive in itself), but also there are a lot of people who just can't be bothered with 3D.

I don't think it'll will be going away, but it's going to be a really slow evolution… the tech is improving and the prices are dropping; HDTV is really just starting to get some momentum.

That said, gaming in 3D is AWESOME!!! Batman Arkham Asylum is fun as hell.
