I always love trying new music and I am into importing Lp's and Tapes as long as they are in good shape. Yesterday I bought Santana'a Inner secrets Lp and the guy is amazing! I knew who he was but now that I bought this I am in search of other stuff by him. I found Zebop and am going to see what that is like.
Does anyone else look into different artists and try new stuff? If I didn't do this I would miss a lot of great music. I bought 17 Beatles Lp's and if I didn't I would have never found a lot of great songs that never made it to the radio.
This is as per Carlos Santana (open invitation) to talk about music and artists that you have just found out about and want to share.

Was at the Edmonton Folk Fest last weekend when a guy namd Kenny Neal brought down the house with his version of "Since I met You Baby", available on iTunes: Kenny Neal - Home Page
I have loved the blues for years, but he was new to me and he is very good. I now have most of his stuff on my iPod Touch.

Santana's self titled album's also very good - I sometimes have that one turned up pretty loud.
I enjoy trying out new music too. I bought Van Morrison's live album, "A Night In San Francisco" a couple of weeks ago. That's an excellent album - one of my favourite live albums ever. I'll have to draw up a list of favourite live albums sometime.
The other day, I was at a friend's place working on a project and he had Mike Oldfield's Discovery album playing and it sounded interesting so I thought I'd buy a copy to give it a closer listening. I also had a couple of DVDs I wanted to buy so I stopped by the large HMV in downtown Toronto on my way home from work yesterday. I couldn't find either DVD I was looking for and as for the Mike Oldfield album, they had about 50,000 copies of Tubular Bells in stock but nothing else. With the way the selection at the record stores is going downhill, if they ever make lossless available on the iTunes store, I might just be convinced to buy downloads instead.
The only downside to lossless is that thier huge! I imported a bunch of LP's using CD spin doctor and I imported them into itunes using lossless. I didn't realize how big they were until the other day. I now use AAC instead and hopefully that doesn't make the sound quality suffer.

If you’re interested with listening to Santana’s music may I suggest Abraxas. I received this LP for Christmas 1970 much to my mother’s chagrin because of the Album cover. There isn’t a bad cut on this LP. This is my second favourite album of all time.

Funny! Carlos and I went to art school together in the early 80s. We used to be mistaken for one another all the time back then - especially from behind. Similar build and hair. We certainly don't look alike now! I used to catch him at Gat 403 on Roncey from time to time, back about a decade ago now. I have one of his solo CDs. He's great live.
I find "new" discoveries in a variety of ways, but one of them is to look up a favourite artist on iTunes or Amazon et al and then see what "people who bought this bought." It has led me to some great new bands.
