Every time some nasty bit of news hits the air waves involving some bizarre violent action you get a lot of people shaking their heads while saying, "What is this world coming to???"
So I was watching an old Italian made slasher flick from the 70's called "Torso" this past weekend - decent for it's time. After, I wanted to look something up involving the movie and I stumbled across an article about the
Cleveland Torso Murders that started back in the 30's. Anybody familiar with this gruesome series of murders? Makes anything I've heard of in the news in the past few years sound pretty mild.
The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run was never brought to justice and some claim it ruined the career of Elliot Ness of
The Untouchables fame. I then read that a movie about the murders is being filmed starring Matt Damon.
Obviously things haven't gotten "worser", just more of the same. But imagine the joy over at CNN news if someone like The Mad Butcher was on the loose today (not likely possible with CSI

on the job)? After being saturated with 24/7 coverage people wouldn't leave their homes because they'd be certain that a mad butcher of their own is in the neighborhood, somewhere, just waiting to strike.
