Adding RSS feature to a website

My company is building a new website using a CMS that will be customized but the CMS does not have the ability to "push" RSS feeds out into the world (like: wordpress, blogger etc).

Does anyone know how difficult it is to add this feature to a site that doesn't currently have it? Is there a "quick install" method or are we stuck in web 1.0?

A CMS that doesn't have RSS support? I'd try to find a different one. Adding it after the fact isn't easily done.

Feedburner might work for you as I think it can try to scrape your site and create a feed but it might not be 100% accurate.

contract already awarded and the RSS question was interpreted incorrectly on their end. They thought I would be pulling feeds in, which I will be doing but I need to push out.

They have built hundreds of sites with their CMS so they may just eat the development cost of adding RSS but I wasn't sure how hard it actually is to do.

Are you able to say which CMS they are implementing?

it's their own CMS. ImmediaC worldwide is the company.

I'm pretty sure they will add the feature for us but i wanted to find out how hard it actually is. I've found some great resources with regards to creating RSS with code tutorials.

Hmm...never heard of them.

Adding RSS really depends on how they coded the rest of the CMS. It could be easily dropped in or it could be a major code exercise.

Hopefully you can get them to do it for free....their misunderstanding shouldn't be your problem.

really though. We'll see how it works out. I guess worst case scenareo I can have them implement an open source blog that has built in RSS capability. I know we can pull feeds so as long as I have something to push out i'm happy.

Thanks.

Feedburner could be your solution here. It has the added advantage of not only creating an RSS feed but give you a "subscribe" option as well for people who prefer an email signup option to RSS.

Johnnyspade:

I'm looking at Feedburner right now and am a little unsure as to how I would integrate it into our new website. I am able to point feedburner towards an existing feed but what if you don't have the ability to push RSS feeds out?

I'm all ears my friend. Thanks in advance.

Ah, sorry...I didn't mean Feedburner, I think I had it on the brain from reading the previous post. I meant FeedYes. There are others though. Try Feed43 as well.
