PeerGuardian - Anybody Use It?

Just wondering if anybody uses this app. when DLing?

What's your opinion? Is it or something like it strongly recommended when Dling?

Or is it an unnecessary precaution?

I've used Protowall on Windows in the past. The biggest issue I have with these programs are the fact you have to manage good/bad IPs, I found that it interfered with regular web surfing too much. You must keep the block list up to date on a regular basis.

Let's just say it out loud, you use these programs to stop RIAA/MPAA/etc contractors from sniffing what you are sharing via P2P, BitTorrent, etc. This is a fair precaution just as radar detectors are for speeding (where allowable by law )

I agree with the others - I'm doubtful this will protect you enough and may give you a false sense of security.
