Any suggestions on a "Good" Credit Card?
Hello All,
So the other day as I pulled out my "got it in University" generic TD Visa someone remarked I should get a better card that enables me to collect something or get something free when make purchases. I also have a generic Capital One MasterCard. I know some people believe that the only good credit card is a dead one, but does anyone have a recommendation? I don't collect air miles or anything of that nature. Anything that insures or doubles warranties would be good since I do purchase the occasional gadget. Currently the one that interests me is the Starbucks Visa, since I do visit there semi-regularly and it allows you to use it as a "gift card" as well. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Ideally one Visa and one Mastercard. Cheers! |

Low interest, no annual fee, for emergency use.
Now having said that, I have a travel points card... CIBC Aerogold. I spend a lot buying stuff for the business every month (gets paid off immediately from the business) and I've begun to travel a fair bit, so it makes sense. |

I use the Shoppers Optimum Visa for everything. I pay it off at the end of the month, so I get no interest charges. The card is free, and I have been able to cash in the Optimum points at Shoppers for just over $3000 of products that I would need anyway.

You always have the best links. I'll be studying this when I have more time.

Thanks to However for the link to Redflag.
If anything the sheer amount of choice makes me want to cancel everything.....I sort of feel like I'm in Vegas, looking at all the rows of casinos "giving away" money, and then remembering that the casinos wouldn't be built if there wasn't A LOT of money in gambling. Cheers. |

The best card ever was the Chargex, but then they changed it to Visa and really, it isn't quite up to the old standard. However, I have been fairly happy with my RB Visa card, which really is my old Chargex (they keep wanting me to change to these newer ones because the old accounts are so good, and they can't pull off all of the ripoffs.)
Had a MasterCard at one time, and they shut it off one night when we were travelling to the East Coast. They said that I was outside of my regular shopping area... I never regretted cancelling that card. In comparison, I only ever had one problem with my Visa card, which they shut off because of a local gas station tried to triple swipe it and steal money. I am glad they shut it off, and it took only a few moments for them to get it going again. Of course, they wanted me to "upgrade" to their newer card, which has half the quality of the old Chargex account I have... |
