We can have a look at electronics if you prefer.... Arguably most come from China, and if you compare the prices, there is a heavy premium buying in Canada.

I don't recall U.S. buyers coming into Canada to get cars. I'd have to find some stats on that...

It happened when the dollar was in the 60 cent area and it was important "news" at the time. The dealers/manufacturers even had the same policy (borders reversed): CDN dealers were not to sell to U.S. customers. This stuff happens.

I do not recall too many people in Canada jumping at the opportunity to point out the great deals when the C$ was in free fall, but the opportunities were there. If you feel ripped off, tell the store how you feel, keep your money and spend some time on the net looking for deals.

Silly me, I was thinking that free markets would self-adjust.... So it's free trade for the big Companies but not Joe Q public...

Commodity markets move too fast, other markets too slow...or the benchmark for how people determine subjective 'wrongess' is wonky.

When businesses temporarily absorbed a lot of the currency crash did people run out and ponder the virtue of Canada's retailers and how Joe Q benefited but not the big boys? Nah.

If this truly is collusion then I hope the relevant dealers and companies get charged. There is a process to initiate with the Competition Bureau.

Last week I bought a small item from Best Buy's website and picked it up at the store. The computer system lost the information regarding the order, so be prepared with a printed email confirmation if you do this. Getting my $14.99 SD card was a big hassle!

What is it this morning with the stupid posts?!?!

This was an insulting statement to make, especially in response to one of our American members.

If you want to embarrass yourself, that's fine but do it somewhere else where you don't embarrass the rest of the country.

BTW, have you tried crossing the border by car lately? I have made the trip over probably 10 times this year. You might be surprised.
