horrible experience with M$ tech. support

people who don't understand nor speak english very well
don't know how to solve problems
got bounced to 6 different people
got hung up on twice

and then of course tech. support closes at 6 pm ET

bad bad bad support

and my xp pro os on my blackbook still has the very same problem

i don't know how civilians get thru life dealing with m$ tech support

absolutely horrible experience

then again, it's an opportunity to get my m$ papers and do my own tech support cause if people have to deal with offshore support, they're finished

any attempt at updating ms-office pro 2003
or
acrobat reader 8
or
installing norton systemworks fails with the only hint being;

"installation/upadte failed" or "fatal error"

i am pretty sure it's some sort of registry issue, but m$ doesn't want to help at all

and here's the kicker

i get an email from "overseas" support person about 15 min. after his shift is over so i can't contact him back and if i try to reply to his email i get a message that "address" not found and email is bounced back

rather than see a problem i see a glorious opportunity

Yeah, when I called tech support during my Vista upgrade the person on the other end had poor english skills and the conversations he had with others in the background were not in english.

I told him numerous times that I had the upgrade version but he couldn't seem to grasp that fact.

I've never called Apple, is their tech support handle by people whose first language is english?

At least some Apple Canada support calls are handled in Saskatoon.

i filed a complaint with M$ Canada "customer support" and will have a "senior engineer" contact me sometime today

overseas support is being handled by third parties
not even M$ themselves
no wonder it's so horrible

and i'm a M$ partner and i get treated this way
we'll see if this "senior engineer" will call today before 5 pm as promised

Apple's main call center is in Austin, Texas IIRC. They do have call centres in Saskatoon and Markham as well I believe.

UPDATE

well it;s 4:22 pm ET and no call from M$
I called the "customer service" guy who promised me a call from a senior tech support person by 5 pm ET today, but he's not answering his phone

no wonder M$ has such a bad reputation when it comes to support

oh well, maybe this the Universe's way of telling me to get my MSCE and start doing a lot more windows support?

well finally got a call from a senior tech support person who is from texas and spoke english and had a good phone connection

we tried for about 2.5 hours and nothing he could do could make my system better
as a matter of fact he got me in the position where i had not choice but to re-install XP pro

so i guess i'm on my own in learning this stuff as it's very obvious that M$ can't help

hopefully i;ll learn something and be able to support clients when they hit similar snags
