What Canadians Consider Immoral . . .

A recent Leger Marketing poll asked Canadians what behaviour they consider immoral:

PEDOPHILIA: 81% (MEN 78%, WOMEN 84%) surprised that this would not have been higher.

I was surprised by the overall results. The provincial breakdown was less of an eye opener where Quebec seems more liberal.
Adultery results were not expected and women seems to be more puritan.

One third of Canadians consider homosexuality immoral?
Whatever happened to live and let live?

Albertans were the most tolerant of prostitution, alcohol abuse, porn movies and contraception. Quebecers were the most tolerant of adultery, sex before 16, blasphemy, abortion and homosexuality.

Could be. But I don't see the need to pass judgement. "Immoral" is a rather strong word.

I'm shocked that that many men and women do *not* consider pedophilia to be immoral! I'd like to know, then, what kind of behaviour they consider that to be...or maybe I wouldn't want to know.

I think it's immoral, but I'm not gonna preach to the choir. (I think I've got a pun or two in there)

I'd have to say that I'm surprised as well by the Pedophilia stats, I would have thought they would have been in the 90's as well. Maybe it has something with the number of people that didn't answer the survey or the number that had no comment on that question, or didn't know what the question referred to.

Pedophilia could be a lack of understanding of the definition...

Then again we may have to define "immoral". Homosexuality, abortion, pornographic movies, prostitution, alcohol abuse, contraception and blasphemy all immoral? Well I'll be damned....

It's a good thing we don't make laws based on what the majority think.

Otherwise adultery, alcoholism, prostitution, pornography, and blasphemy would all be illegal.

Yes we are. Haven't you noticed all the fundies around?

What surprised me is that drugs aren't on the list.
