Since downloading music is so common ... I thought I would reflect on the CD (while it is still around) ... and think back to the titles that were the most difficult for me to locate ... sometimes taking years.
My top 3 are:
1) Luba - Secrets and Sins (found in Canadian Tire of all places)
2) Nik Kershaw - The Works (purchased in Germany)
3) Nik Kershaw - Radio Musicola (purchased in Germany)
My proudest moment was tracking down the Quicksand "Slip" LP on vinyl which contained them covering "How soon is now" that their CD didn't. I believe their weren't a lot pressed - mine even has the promo copy not for resale stamped on the back.
There are quite a few "rare cd" stores in Toronto that I like to hit when I'm there(it's been years). My proudest find was an original Neil Young "Tonights the Night" 12" vinyl. I was short lived though. I left it in the taxi while being dropped off at the airport. Ive never found one is such great shape again.
Now if I could just get The Hardship Post on iTunes, my world would be complete… cause who wants to mailorder to Subpop in the States and play with duty and all that crap, when you could just click buy and then be d/ling…

I may have an extra copy of that for you teeterboy3. We used to get free records from Sub Pop. I'll check when I get home.
Oh and you wouldnt pay duty on the CD from sub pop. You might pay the tax but I doubt that also. Ive ordered several CDs from the US and never had to pay anything,
I thought I had ordered something from them or was it Matador back in the day and got dinged when it came accross the border - but that could have been back before the internet had changed cross border shopping.
Another proud CD I have is the Jale dreamcake advance from Subpop from back when I wrote for the University of Windsor school paper. I always loved having advance copies that don't have the mass release artwork.
If you had that Hardship Post CD, you would be my hero. What ever happened to those guys? I had heard that he was playing with one of the girls from Jale but nothing much more.
Oh, and my sis-in-law who works at the Drake, did Julie D's show a couple weeks ago and by all accounts it was great. You guys talk?
