Sort of a telling picture of Bush and Harper.

Pres. Fox is the only smart one in that he is wearing a hat. Of course, Harper is almost totally out of the picture.

Fox seemed to look quite silly in that picture. Of course it's just a picture, and they're worth a thousand over-interpretations.

Fox looks like a peon, and Harper looks like Bush's tag-along buddy. For the record, I am not trying to be disrespectful to peons or tag-along friends.

That's how you see the picture? Can't say I agree. Maybe we're both wearing political glasses today.

Beej, keep in mind that ever since the Bush-Kerry debates, Bush has been sensitive about photo ops re his small stature compared to others. Notice that Fox is almost standing at attention, but Bush is relaxed, but on a lower step so as not to shop that he is shorter than the others. Harper is hidden behind Bush.

Again, note my first post in this thread. Political undertones are intentionally part of a photo-op, as is over-speculation. A famous Canadian example was the Mulroney-Reagan 'When Irish Eyes are Smiling' event. For the most part, interpretation of political significance and insignificance was based on political interpretations of the nations' relationship with each other.

Note Bush's overcompensated grin. Could be that he intentionally is lightening the moment because he knows he is surrounded by his betters. Could be he is more at ease, being in a position of greater power. Could be someone behind the camera making a Kerry joke.

Read in what you will. Does the interpretation say more about the picture or the observer?

Come on now, it's a heartwarming sight.

Master George with his trusted farmhands Pedro and Harpo. Too bad they forgot the donkey.

On McLuhan's gravestone are the words "The Truth Shall Make You Free."
