Flight Pass Fun
I do a lot of travelling, and Air Canada introduced these new 'Flight Passes'. I looked at the rates, wasn't too impressed, but then they introduced a "Spring Sample Pass". A few restrictions - the package includes 4 passes (one good for each way, so basically two round trips), which had to be used by June 11th. I usually make two round trips in a month so I didn't think this would be a problem.
My next trip is to Denver, in three weeks, so I looked up the cost of the Western Pass - about $800.00. Looked up the list of cities served. Both Vancouver and Denver are on the list. Excellent. Bought the flight pass. Proceeded to try to book the flight. And discovered that apparently Air Canada has NO flights into Denver. None. Nada. Even though they show up on the schedule.
Called technical support - they replicated the issue and said they'd 'look into it'.
So, three days later, Air Canada technical support finally phoned to say that they don't fly into Denver and the city has been removed from the list of served cities referenced by the pass. Except you can fly into Denver on Air Canada. It's a code share flight with United. But the conditions of the passes are that it has to be a 'Air Canada' flight. And Air Canada doesn't actually fly into Denver. Oops.
My purchase is being credited.
But the most interesting thing out of all of this is that internet technical support for Air Canada is apparently done from India. (And complaints that their site doesn't support Safari didn't go far either.)
Just found it ... interesting. And probably explains why 99% of my flights are on Westjet.
