In search of....a backpack

With spring/summer around the corner I'm looking for a specific backpack. One that sits raised off of my back. I hate having heat/sweat build up between my back and the backpack. Does anyone know if such a backpack exsists?

What sort of backpack are you looking for? Are you interested in a large pack for backcountry travel, or just a small daypack for use around town?

An external frame backpack will likely be less "sweaty" than an internal frame pack, but I've only seen relatively large packs suitable for backcountry camping with an external frame. It might be hard to come by an external frame pack these days, as most folks seem to go with internal frame designs.

Edit: Here are some external frame packs: http://kelty.com/Kelty/index.cfm?fus...&categoryID=50

Sorry, yes I'm looking for a daily use pack to carry my books and laptop around.

M.E.C. might be the best place to shop:

I have a Lowe Alpine Contour Runner (30L capacity) and it has the two sort of padded ribs running on either side of the spine that raise it from the spine and other sections of the back. It allows more airflow to your back...might be what you're looking for, maybe not. Its large, but a good size for school I'd say. Do a quick search for it, it might be what you're looking for...

I second that!

It would be best if you could get to a MEC store in person and explain your needs, you'll find the sales people tend to know the products quite well.
