Scam on EhMac?

Got this today, and it was put into my junk folder, should it stay there? Who else got this? :

Dear

Good a thing to write you. I have a proposal for
you-this however is not mandatory nor will I in any
manner compel you to honour against your will.

Your profile pushed me to send you this mail, I am Silvia James,21years old and
the only daughter of my late parents Mr.and Mrs.James. My father was a highly
reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant)who operated in the capital of Ivory
coast during his days.

It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his
business trips abroad year 12th.Febuary 2004.Though his sudden death was linked
or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled
with him at that time. But God knows the truth!

My mother died when I was just 4 years old,and since then my father took me so
special. Before his death on Febuary 12 2004 he called the secretary who
accompanied him to the hospital and told him that he has the sum of Ten
million, seven hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$10.700,000) left in one
of the leading Finance company here in Abidjan Ivory coast West Africa.

He further told me that he deposited the money in my name,I am just 21 years old
and a university undergraduate and really don't know what to do.This is because
I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis
here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life.

Dear,I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards.Your
suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.

Now permit me to ask these few questions:-
1. Can you honestly help me as your Sister?
2. Can I completely trust you?
3. What percentage of the total amount in question will
be good for you after the money is in your account?

Please,Consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.Through my
private email box bellow for security reason emailaddress@email.com(blurred)

Thank you so much.

My sincere regards,

Silvia James

I get about 10-20 of those per day. Beat that.

It's typical spam to try to make you believe you've profited off of someone else's death.

I don't get that via my ehMac profile, but spam bots will send everything to every link or e-mail address they run across.

I'd have to say that its not a scam, totally go for it!
Dont worry, give out personal info to everyone who asks, especially credit card and bank info. Use paypal if in doubt :-P

I'm kidding, my attempt at humour.

I just looked up ivory coast cocoa merchant in google. I wonder if this Mr. James was business partners with Isu Victor, Desmond Culubara, Steve Hatch, Willams Kone, Max Samuel, Rupert Sankara, and Coker Ibrahim, all of whom were very wealthy cocoa merchants of the ivory coast, each worth approximately 10 million dollars US (they must have split the money very evenly). What's more interesting is that they were all mysteriously killed around the same time, and all have one child just over the age of 21.

I was dubious at first; sounded like the classic scam, but with all these people involved, how could it be false?

Look seriously, someone posts one of these Western African Advance Fee Fraud scam emails in their entirety at least once a week. It's getting BORING. Yes, it is a scam EACH AND EVERY TIME someone offers you money for free.

Let's save the "is this a scam" subject for real fraudulent sellers and Mac-oriented scams that members deserve warning about, shall we?

You can forward any of these advance fee fraud ("Help us get $1 bazilliond dollars out of our country" "You have won a lottery you never heard about before" "You are the beneficiary of a will of someone you have never heard of") emails to wafl@phonebusters.com and let the RCMP deal with them.

If the scammers are abusing the ehMac system, report it to the Mayor.

Perhaps, but when censorship is designed to protect members from being preyed upon, it is a good thing.
