So my question is this. Are Rotel and Bryston in the same class or is bryston higher and if so, is it higher just because of build quality and warranty or sound too? I've built the speakers myself so maybe its holding me back?? Just a set of small bookshelf ones with VIFA components (5.25" and 1") |

You don't say which model of Rotel you have so it's hard to comment. A few years ago, Rotel made excellent products, now the quality and sonic signature is uneven.
Bryston has a great reputation. The sound and build quality are excellent. I have listened to the Bryston pre-amp and found it a little bright - this may have been due to the amp/speaker/source combo.
Your speaker maybe holding back the sound.
As for same class, I'd give Bryston the overall edge.
