That is very interesting.
Can't say I like their appearance at this point, but I'm sure the optics will improve long before the Tweel comes to market.

The Tweel is not actually open all the way through. This demo tire is used to show you how it is able to work with no air in it. Anything hitting the retail market will be fully sealed on both sides just like a normal tire (We did a story on it last year).

Absolutely. This will look like a regular tire from the outside with sidewalls and all. those photos are kind of like those shoes you see in stores that are cut lengthwise so as to show its features.
