Worked "very often" for you? If it wasn't right, then you didn't do your calculations correctly.

*SPOILER*

This trick is a very simple one, there are only a few possible numbers you can get. The trick is that in the list, all the possible numbers that you could get have the same symbol. Try it, take several different numbers and look at what symbol you would have gotten. They will all have the same symbol. So that you don't catch on, each time you click "Try Again" it changes what symbol you get.

The symbols keep changing, but the system still works. "Long Live Big Brother".

Funny thing while reading this thread I assumed it was going to be one of those mathematical tricks, so I picked a number before I clicked the link. The number was 23, the same as the example at the bottom, now that is weird.

A friend's wife explained this to me the last time it was posted a few years back. Darned if I can remember how, but it is a simple math thing that makes it work.

It's just some basic algebra folks.

We have a base 10 number system. The digit on the right has a unit value from 0 to 9. The digit on the left has a value of 10 times the number.

Lets call the digit on the right "Y" and the digit on the left "X". Any two digit number will have the total value of 10X + Y. If you add together each digit you get X + Y. The psychic test says to take the total value and subtract the sum of the individual digits.

This gives you the formula (10X + Y) - (X + Y)
This formula reduces to 9X
So X is the digit on the left and it can have a value of 0 to 9. The answer has to be 9 times that value, so there are only 10 possible solutions.
9 times 0 = 0
9 times 1 = 9
9 times 2 = 18
......
.......
9 times 9 =81

So 0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81 are the only possible answers. You'll note that all of these numbers will have the same symbol.

If you haven't run off screaming and pulling your hair out yet then try this link
Go Ahead, Try it

I suppose to be entirely correct 0 wouldn't be included since a two digit number would never really be written with a 0 as the left digit.
