A friend on mine went to the Rhianna concert in Calgary last night (she was at Cowboys.) I thought it sounded like the worst concert ever, but maybe someone else will have another story.
RHIANNA - Calgary (Cowboys)
- doors opened at 7:00pm
- two warm up bands played for 20 minutes each (one at 10pm and one at 11pm)
- Rhianna wasn't even in the building until around midnight
- Rhianna took the stage at 12:35am and PLAYED 4 SONGS!!!
I can't see any legitimate artist trying to pull off crap like that!
Worst for me has to be REM. I saw them in Vancouver in 1995 and in Texas in 1999. They played for at least 2 hours, but they sounded terrible both times. I think REM is generally known for lousy live performances.
Too bad about your experience. Maybe she was sick?
I went to the Beatles concert in Shea Stadium way back when. Could not hear a thing.
I went to Woodstock, and the worst thing that happened there was that it ended................and with it went an end of an era for a whole generation.

Someone in the office just mentioned that when Snoop Dogg came to Cowboys, the doors opened at 7pm and he took the stage at 1am. I'm thinking it's a Cowboys thing.

Your generation got all the good jobs and forgot your ideals...
I went to the first edgefest at the Molson Amphitheater, the first year it opened I think July 1 '95. We tried to show up late so we could miss that godawful band Our Lady Peace, since they were the first to perform, no such luck. So when the good bands finally came on Elastica, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and Blur, We weren't even allowed to stand up, every time we tried, got some 15 year old kid working security telling us not to stand up. This is a bleeding rock concert, are you suppose to sit down and listen to it, I can do that in my bedroom. What's worst, is an outdoor environment where you can't smoke. Today I can understand, but not '95.
Vowed to never return to the Molson Amphitheater, and never have.
Worst Experience EVER!!
Why did they have to tear down the Ontario Place Forum for that monstrosity is a wonder.
On the contrary, one of my best experience is seeing James at the Forum, not a bad seat in the place with the rotating stage, and intimate feeling.
1. Weezer, not exciting at all, they just stood there and didn't look into it, music was decent but he wouldn't play el scorcho.
2. The White Stripes, again not very exciting, especially with having just two people in the band you need something else going on, because them two in the same spot for an hour and a half sucks.

I was at this concert. Not quite 1am though.
Opening act hit the stage at 6:30, played till about 7:30.
Snoop came on stage around 11:30, played for 20 mins, left with no encore.
Not only was it a 20 min set, but it was done horribly, he bleded his songs together, cutting out verses of some tracks (He cut outthe whole last verse of Gin n Juice!! What, did he think nobody would notice that!!)
TERRIBLE concert, saw him again at The Dome, was not much better, but he played longer.
AS, yes, I have a "good job", but have not forgotten my "ideals". I met with our provincial Minister of Education last week to advocate on behalf of adults who are unable to read/write, or who have very low literacy levels. I volunteer to provide free assessments for learning disabled children and adults, so that they may bypass the wait list, which requires a fee of $1500-$2500. I could be earning that sort of money by doing this form of formal testing, but choose to go the "pro bono" route. Our school districts really can't afford these costs, and most parents/adults certainly cannot afford these costs. So, I have the expertise and the "ideals" re public service, so I do this as part part of my job as an educated person. I was the first university professor in Canada to win the Canada Post Literacy Educator of the Year Award back in 2004 for this sort of community service, along with my teaching here at Memorial.
Granted, some may have forgotten their ideals, but many have not, so be careful with these sorts of generalizations. Paix, mon ami.
