This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an
honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features
an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a
decision.
Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.
Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.
THE SITUATION
You are in Louisiana, New Orleans to be specific. There is chaos all around
you, caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of
biblical proportions. You are photojournalist, working for a major
newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster.
The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making
photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing
under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.
===============================================
THE TEST
Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying
not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. . Somehow the man
looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's George W. Bush.
At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him
under forever. You have two options--you can save the life of the president
of the United States, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning
photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men.
Apologies to all those of you who have been asked this question already.
THE QUESTION:
Here's the question, and please give an honest answer.......
Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic
simplicity of black and white?
Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic
simplicity of black and white?
For sheer dramatic effect, the only choice is black and white. If possible, I would try to leave the lens open as long as possible to show the force of the waves and the frantic splashing of the subject.
PS - if this had been a real question - I wouldn't have cared if it was the president or some poor person, regardless of race - I would have saved them if I could.
SQ, I should warn you that there have been a few people sending this questionnaire around cyberspace over the past year or so...........................and they have all mysteriously disappeared.
However, now that you have been forewarned, I would go with color film.

I would go with Black and White of an X-Ray plate and throw the heavy sucker at ...err I meant to say to dear Little Georgie.

There was movie put out about 7 or 8 years ago that went straight to video, but it was really good. It was called The Last Supper. It involved a group of college students living in a house together, and they would invite people over for dinner and the people who were invited usually opposed their political views. There was one question that every got asked, "if you could go back in time in a time machine to kill Hitler from committing genocide, what would you do?" There was also one character who the group all hated because of his views, he was a TV news commentator and they always hated what he had to say, but couldn't stop watching him. But they soon find out that what he says is just for ratings, and aren't his views at all, and when they ask him the time machine question, he answers instead of killing him, why not talk to him, and find out why he blames the problems on the Jews, and perhaps try to change history, without resorting to violence.
So if Dubbuya is wailing his arms in the air begging for help, yeah I'd save him, I'd ask for change in return (but where do you start?) or money, but I would snap off a few shots before I went in after him.
As a photojournalist, I would have a Digital Nikon, so film wouldn't be an issue. but if I was shooting film, Colour all the way, you can always convert to black and white later.
