Long John Baldry RIP

Blues legend Long John Baldry has died at age 64 after a four-month battle with a severe chest infection.

Baldry's agent posted an announcement on the musician's website that Baldry had passed away Thursday night in Vancouver, where he had been living.

I heard it mentioned on the radio this afternoon. Sad news. In addition to a long musical career, and assisting so many other artists along the way, LJB did some character voices in Reboot (one of my favourite animated shows).

So sad. I never missed him when he played here. He will be missed.

I saw the man at the Convention Inn in Edmonton about 1997, apparently at a low point in his career (The C.I. is not a classy venue.) I had heard of him, but was ignorant of the full extent of his contribution. It was a very impressive performance - a real trouper.
